Calculating Potential Energy Savings of Commercial PVC (Vinyl) Roofing Membranes

How can you get a quantitative analysis of the potential energy savings for your building without performing a detailed building energy simulation?

Roofing calculators and other tools are available to help architects, specifiers, roofing contractors, building owners or facility managers evaluate the energy efficiency of roofing systems under consideration.


This energy savings calculator, developed by DOE’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory, estimates cooling and heating savings for low slope roof applications with non-black surfaces. This calculator (2.0) is for large facilities that purchase electricity with a demand charge based on peak monthly load. Embedded within that calculator is another link (1.2) for small or medium-sized facilities that purchase electricity without a demand charge.
